It’s Messy

A Blog About Grief

My world changed when our oldest son, Hunter, died from an overdose. It’s messy: loving someone with an addiction and losing someone from addiction.

I’m looking for my tribe. Those of us who have lost an adult child under complicated circumstances. Those parents who can’t say, “My kid was an angel.” Those of us whose grief isn’t only about missing that kid. Those of us who feel that we have to look at the whole picture, the good, bad, and the ugly, to grieve, learn, and live.

I love my son and miss him so much. I’ve learned so much in the process of mourning his death. Eyes wide open; this isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s for those who want to explore, own, understand, and learn. It’s messy.

Who do you love? Who did you lose? Let’s share our stories.
